Lord Teach Us To Pray

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name!

Prayer is the key! Prayer is the power that unlocks treasures and resources from heaven and makes them available to us here on earth.

Some people need deliverance. Some people pray and give up because they don't know that prayer takes persistence.  Prayer is completion because there's so many dimensions to prayer.  When you have knowledge G-d expects you to use it.

If G-d convicts you to forgive, to tithe to stop gossiping, then you need to do it.  How does he convict us? Through the word and the spirit.  Our prayers will be answered on the basis of obedience.  The spirit of the Lord speaks through his word.  Be obedient and G-d will answer your prayers.

Need does not unleash G-d's treasure, or to intervene in human affairs.  If you come to G-d using the right keys he will intervene in your life situation like you've never known. A few years ago I went into this bookstore and I saw so many books that looked like treasures.  I said, Oh Lord, I don't know what to buy. I turned and on a shelf at my feet I saw at title, 'Secrets to answered prayers', by Lester Summerall. That book expanded my mind about prayer.

If you can get this secret in your spirit you'll have the answer to all the other books.  Jesus' disciples said, "Lord, teach us to pray." Jesus then taught them the model prayer. Matthew 6:9-13 and in Luke 18:1.

Many people refer to this as the Lord's Prayer, but the Lord's Prayer is in John 17.  Jesus prayed this prayer when he knew his time had come. He prayed for himself, his disciples and his followers.

But in Matthew 6:9 Jesus shows us the model prayer. We need to study this prayer for it is the prayer model that Jesus taught us to use. This is not all we can say in prayer, but it is your model.  Would you make a cake or dress without a pattern?  We must approach G-d with a proper attitude.

Sometimes we forget everything and just say, Oh Lord, help me. or we just simply call out his name. The Lord says, call upon me and I will show you great and mighty things.  He's inviting us to come.  This says that there is a blueprint of how to approach G-d.

When you pray in this manner pray from the heart.  You come before G-d and approach him with respect. Address him as Father. We are the children of G-d. John 14:6 says, "I am the way, the truth and light, no man goes to the Father except through me.

If you haven't been born again by the blood, you are not a child of G-d. In Galations 3:26 Jesus told the Pharisees, "you are not a child of G-d, you are the child of your father, the devil."  They thought because they were Jews that they were covered. But G-d does not let the Jews get by with sin either.

Jesus said, pray to the Father this way!  Jesus was given the name above all names after his ascension. John 14:12-14.  So now, you have power as you pray. Jesus said, the works that I do you will do.  He's given us the authority to do things in his name.  Ask in the command of Jesus' name. Signs and wonders followed the disciples.  They are protected and if they drank anything poisonous or deadly it would not hurt them.

The second way to use Jesus' name is the prayer of petition. John 16:23. One of these times in John Jesus is doing the work and in another the Father is doing the work.  In the petition, you can switch to a prayer of faith and command.

Forgive us our debts.  All of a sudden you can switch to speak to the devil in a command prayer.  Take your hands off my family you devil. Tell him what your authority is and command him to be loosed off of someone. Look at how Jesus spoke to the devil, and you can do the same thing.

Approach Jesus in prayer and thank him for becoming your righteousness and taking your sin onto himself. Approach him with great honor and respect when approaching the throne. It is essential. Hallow his name. Recognize the importance of his name. His name is glorious, marvelous, wonderful and ever what else you want to tell him. Just realize who you are talking to first. Don't just go to prayer and jump right in with all your needs.  Spend some time in prayer, praising him and hallow his name.

You can use Psalms in prayer. Psalm 103:1, and Psalm 34:3 are excellent to use in prayer. Get your audience with G-d first before you start petitioning him. Start sings, 'How Great Thou Art' and see if you don't get G-d's ear.  Talk to him from your inner man.  If you don't speak to him from your heart, you're in trouble.

Let's look at Matthew 6:10, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We have to establish his kingdom here on earth.  The church won't pray. We're church goers but not Kingdom minded.  It's about harvest folks. Let eternity drive you.  That's the prayer of the church and when we pray he will intervene for the people.

When you're praying for others, he'll meet your need.  That dimension with G-d will bring you joy in his presence, the rest.  You won't have a long, sad face anymore. Where I live, I live for the Lord, if I die, I die unto the Lord.  Get that in your spirit.  You're a child of G-d.  Pray for G-d's

Our nation is rotten to the core, because of lack of prayer!  It ought to make you fall on your knees.  G-d will not intervene if the church will not pray.  Christ's organization is the only one that can do it, not the government. The politicians are not by the people for the people any longer, but to line there own pockets.

I want my home to be like G-d's kingdom. We need Godly homes and then the church will be Godly. Take the cell phones away from the kids in church. If they sit at your table they'll listen to the preacher. Now a days, the children run the homes. Don't let your children do that. Read the book of Ecclesiastes in chapter 3 and you'll get some discernment. Don't get mad at G-d's prophets, get your life in order and living righteous.  Pray for your success and then pray for the sinners that are lost.

Matthew 6:11, Give us this day our daily bread.  Don't plan for tomorrow. Pray for each day.  Don't make an assumption of what you'll have tomorrow. You could be homeless tomorrow, or jobless or fall ill.  Pray today for what you have and need. Then be thankful for it, for it is the thankful heart that gets blessings for G-d's children.  People can plan their money for investments and the stock market and worry themselves to death. G-d supplies our need one day at a time.

Jesus addresses forgiveness in Matthew 6:12.  Ask G-d for forgiveness and sin in a humble spirit and he will forgive you. Don't ask him for a million dollar house.  Ask him to forgive you for that evil eye you had on that nurse last week at your doctor's appointment, or ask him to forgive you for gossiping about someone yesterday.

G-d will forgive us as we forgive others.  If you don't he won't forgive you.  The worst thing you can do is approach the throne with unforgiveness toward another.

Matthew 6:13, Lead us not into temptation.  Here's you a little nugget from James 1:13, "Let no one who is tempted say I am tempted by G-d, for G-d cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he himself tempt anyone. Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and lust."  Pray to keep you away from that.

Deliver us from Evil.  The devil is out to kill you, ask the Lord daily to keep the evil one away from your dwelling and your children!
